Link Tracking
Introduction
In order to track the source of traffic to a website or to identify the specific user using the website we can add parameters to the end of a URL. These parameters are read-out by the software installed on the website attribute the user/session/pageview to specific sources.
For example we may want to direct traffic to the main isoCell product page. We would do this by several means, we may want to utilise social-media posts, google ads as well as in personal and bulk emails we send. If we provided the standard link https://www.iotasciences.com/isocell the all of the traffic from one source would by aggregated together and we wouldn't know spilt between different sources. by adding parameters to the URL we can attribute the traffic to each different source.
UTM Tracking parameters
The highlighted link below shows a link with added parameters, these are the maximum standard parameters which Google Analytics tracks in it's platform.

Different sources have different values after the = sign and each parameter is separated by a &. The examples below show how we might label/attribute the parameters for the scenario described above. It isn't essential to add all parameters, this example demonstrates the most you might add.

In the use-case that you wish to view the session (using mouseflow) of a ~cells~ specific person you are emailing in a 1:1 email you can apply a parameter to the URL of the content you are offering them.
https://iotasciences.com/isocell?&utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=follow-upYou can then filter in mouseflow the sessions/users which match the parameters on the clicked link. The parameters appear as green 'badges' to the side of recordings. Clicking on the badges filters results to like recordings with the same parameter. You can create saved views which can be emailed to you at given intervals to alert you of new recordings matching your criteria.
